Time Texture, 2015
Hamaguchi prepared a ready made of an object from an original, that is in the exhibition site. She added the same flaw or stain to the new object so it became exactly the same in quality as the original object. In this particular work 'Time Texture', the aim was to challenge the value between the original object and the replica in its place. The original aluminum venetian blind had become damaged and imperfect over time through use and mis-use. It had its own history. In contrast, the time it took to replicate the objects imperfection by the artist was relatively short. Through this process, the value of both objects is put into question. Is the new object more valuable than the original?
